1. Titel of workshop: Secure realtime audio/video communication - H.350 & encryption & gatekeeper/proxy - using H.323 (...and a little bit SIP) 2. Organizer/Chair: Kewin Stoeckigt (MPG), Egon Verharen (SURFnet) 3. Objectives: At the beginning, an introdution (~ 40 minuts) to H.323 is given, which includes the communication model, current security issues (e.g. firewalls), the zone concept (GDS) and the gatekeeper/proxy solution for bypassing a firewall. After this introduction Egon will give a lecture (~ 40-45 minutes) about H.350 Directory Services Middleware for Multimedia Conferencing- advantages, implementation,.... In the first hour of the second time slot (~ 60 minutes) participants are going to install gnugk or KOMProxy (an opensource gatekeeper/proxy) and configure it with Proxy and GDS and how to setup H.350 for authentication and directory services. At the end of the day, everybody should be able to take a gk/proxy home, either on CD or PC. The last 30 minutes will then be used to give a report about the current status of peering H.323 and SIP, which means, how both techniques can communicate with each other (right now). 4. Target audience: APAN Members interested in setting up (H.323) videoconferencing services and who need a quick and free solution for security/firewall issues, as well as authentication issues. 5. Expected number of participants: 30-40 6. Preferred time: IF POSSIBLE NOT AT THE SAME DAY AS THE SIP SESSION 7. Number of sessions: 4 8. Candidate session chairs and speaker: - --- Kewin Stoeckigt - H.323 theory - MPG - --- Egon Verharen - H.350 - SURFnet - --- ... - --- ... 9. Remarks (including special arrangements if any): Will need 40 LAN ports around the table with power. We can use the Laptops Stephen Kingham is using for his sessions.
