Call for Participation in an OpenFlow Workshop

Indiana University, with support from the National Science Foundation, is offering members of the APAN community an OpenFlow workshop, in conjunction with APAN/ESNet/Internet2 Techs in Paradise (TIP) 2013, to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, 13-15 January. The workshop is scheduled for Sunday, 13 January, 9:00-16:00.

The workshop will present a comprehensive view of OpenFlow that includes its history, market forces, its standards body (i.e., The Open Networking Foundation), its core value in the enterprise, WAN, and datacenter, as-well-as details of the details of the protocols itself. Hands-on exercises will include using OpenFlow to configure the behavior of network switches, using FlowVisor to virtualize an OpenFlow network, and debugging the OpenFlow network.

Attendance at the workshop is limited to 30 participants. There is no charge for the workshop. Participants will be selected for approval by the APAN board of directors.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a member of an APAN organization
  2. Be registered for TIP
  3. Bring a laptop with X-windows installed
  4. Have a knowledge of Ethernet switching
